01.15 | Seasons five premiere previews and reviews

Too many links to post them all, but here's a selection:

The Boston Herald says that "the producers practically yank out fans’ hearts - through their noses - in the best opener of this series".

Inthefray says that "'24' is probably the only show that could extend a premier over two nights".

The Lowell Sun posts a round-up of the previous four seasons for the forgetful amongst you.

WTOP News reveals the following:

Fox asked critics to a) not divulge what happens in the first 10 minutes, b) not reveal what forces former counterterrorist agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) out of hiding, c) not to share the DVD with other TV reporters or newspaper staffers, family members or friends and, d) well, I can't even reveal what D says without giving away a plot development.
The Hartford Courant says that "even before the end of the first four hours Monday, it will have whipped from one peril to another, each one a seeming subterfuge for an even bigger ploy to come, like malevolent Russian nesting dolls".

The Toronto Star says that "the franchise could conceivably last until Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer is reduced to fighting crime from a walker".

There's not much in the way of spoilers in any of these because of the conditions that Fox gave to the critics in return for supplying the DVDs.

I am SO ready to assignate President Logan already! He is such a whiny, self-absorbed idiot! Here's hoping the terrorists target him next.
