11.22 | Sky One to broadcast '24' series five in high definition

Just a quickie: Sky has announced plans for its high definition TV (HDTV) service to start in April 2006. Sky HD will make four channels available in the enhanced format: Sky Sports HD, Sky Movies HD, Artsworld HD (eh?) and Sky One HD, including '24'.

With '24' season five likely to premiere on Sky One around the beginning of February 2006, it's likely that either some or all of the fifth season will be broadcast in the UK using the high definition format.

Does this mean that we will have to pay even more to watch 24 or will it still be on a regular sky package? Please don't say I have to do some stupid upgrade for this one amazing show that I adore?

No, you won't have to pay more unless you want HD. 24 will continue to be broadcast on the "normal" Sky One at the same time. HD is an optional extra.

If you didn't already know, ELISHA CUTHBERT is returning as a guest star in Season 5 of 24! Her character, Kim Bauer, will be returning for 4 episodes or maybe more, beginning at 1pm. How exciting! It's going to be great, since she thinks that jack's dead. Although the show is fantastic, it needs Kim back for at least a few episodes- i mean she's jacks daughter! Does anyone know the date of the premiere of season 5 on Sky One? Or is the start of Febuary 2006 the only info we've got?

i live in England. I would of liked to watch 24 series 5 in less than six months after America does as i LOVE the show. Would i have to pay for this HDTV thingy? i also don't have sky, just digital tv. What do the British have to pay to be able to watch this AMAZING show at the same time as everyone else?

high definition tv or hdtv as it is known is just the way the program is broadcasted unless you buy a high definition tv then you will not see the results. you should not have to pay for this service as people without hdtv ready tv's will be paying extra money with out no difference and in my opinion i dont know why sky is going on about hdtv so badly as it has been out in the states for some time and there is not alot of difference between hdtv and norman tv. 24 day 5 is starting out in america this sunday 15th january

If you are in the UK and you really can't wait for 24 Series 5 then you can download the episodes from the internet the day after they are broadcast in the US using the excellent bittorrent program (use google to find it). I really don't know why we in the UK should have to wait for 12 months or more after it is broadcast in the US to watch it without having to pay for Sky but I suppose Sky will pay more for the series than the BBC.

It's likely that 24 will take NIp/Tuck's slot on sunday nights, once Nip/Tuck, Season 3 has finished (which is in about 3 weeks). If it doesn't start the week later then it shouldn't be long. I can't wait!!!
