08.26 | Sean Astin off 'Lord of the Rings' joins the cast of '24'
Sean Astin (official site) - Sam in the 'Lord of the Rings' movies - has joined the '24' cast as a guest star for season five.
Astin is, of course, an internet superstar. "What's taters, precious?", etc.
I'm guessing he'll play a good guy. After all, this is the bloke who played Mikey in 'The Goonies'.
Weirdly, Astin and Kiefer have both appeared together before, in uncredited roles in the 1994 film Teresa's Tattoo. Which also 'starred' Lou Diamond Phillips, who was in the first season of '24'.

It's actually an interesting one, with each episode covering one hour in the life of the programme's characters.
