Here's an interview with '24' co-creator and producer Joel Surnow on ugo.com:
UGO: How involved are you with the '24' shows that are going to be on people's mobile phones?
JOEL: Not at all. They can't use any of our characters.
Sounds like
'24: Conspiracy' is getting a lot of support.
12.29 | Fox's '24' Angers Muslim Group
Fox is under fire from at least one group for scenes in the January 9th debut of drama '24' that portray a Muslim teenager and his parents as members of a terrorist cell plotting a mass attack on Americans.
One of the villains is a Walkman-toting, bubble-gum-chewing teenager who fights with his conservative Dad about dating an American girl and talking on the phone.
Over the breakfast table, the father tells his son: “What we will accomplish today will change the world. We are fortunate that that our family has been chosen to do this. "Yes, father," his son replies.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, a civil rights and advocacy group, plans to bring their concerns about the episode to Fox, says group spokeswoman Rabiah Ahmed.
"They are taking everyday American Muslim families and making them suspects. They're making it seem like families are co-conspirators in this terrorist plot." In another scene, she says, a terrorist is shown coming out of a mosque. The way the episode depicts Muslims creates an atmosphere in which many Americans look at all Muslims as suspects in the war on terror, she adds. "It's very dangerous and very disturbing."
Looks like Fox might get in trouble.
To promote the upcoming season fourth season of '24', Fox has put an online game on its website. The game is called 24: Countdown, and it's a three level driving game, like Grand Theft Auto, but without the walking about.
Unfortunately you'll need to install a widget for your web browser from Wildtangent to play the game, and the install procedure doesn't seem to like the Firefox browser, so try it out in Internet Explorer if you can.
The good thing is that if you beat the game and complete all three levels, your prize is some computer wallpapers that you can download. Those of you who can't install the game, or who are too rubbish to complete it, you can grab one of the wallpapers from this site. Right click that link to save it to your computer.
POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!
South African-born actor Arnold Vosloo, best known for his role as villain Imhotep in the "Mummy" movies, has landed a recurring role on Fox's "24," playing the leader of a terrorist plot against the United States.
Confirming what most of us already knew, it looks like
Nestor Serrano won't be the big baddie of season four.
According to Yahoo!, anyway.
Here's an early Christmas present for UK fans and others who can't get their hands on the US version of the season three DVD. I'll give you a clue: it's the coolest part of the brand new region one boxset that wasn't included in the one we got in region two. Here's a bigger hint: it's the six minute preview for season four. In .wmv format (sorry). It's a 10mb download, so it might take you a while if you're on a 56k modem. But then you probably knew that.
Fans in America should buy the DVD from Amazon. You'll have to pay, but then you'll get the preview in full DVD quality. And here's the UK season three DVD - which doesn't include the season four trailer - for fans in the UK who want it.
The trailer will stay up on the site for around 24 hours. Please leave a comment if you decide to download it so I can keep an eye on the site's bandwidth. The clock is ticking...
UPDATE: OK, the video has been taken offline after two days, before Fox get too pissed off. A few hundred of you downloaded it from the site and only six people left comments. Anyone else who wants to see it will have to buy the DVD, or pester Fox to put it up on the official site.
Some of you might have already known this, but Sky One is going to show the 4th season of '24' on Sunday nights starting in January.
What that article doesn't tell you is that the likely starting date will be Sunday 30th January, meaning that UK viewers will only be six or seven episodes behind the US.
