02.23 | It's like The Guardian's Charlie Brooker, only driving a white van and drinking cheap lager

Top comic tabloid The Sun has jumped aboard the '24' bandwagon and started publishing an hour by hour guide to the new season two episodes as they're broadcast. As it is with most stuff from The Sun, the text is pretty much bollocks, but there's some pretty pictures.

Charlie Brooker must be a sexless idiot. How much hate can one person vent and still feel good about himself. Bush will win in November and you thankless bunch of turds can feel good that at least one country with backbone will come to your defence.

I am just glad he is over there and not over here. With "friends" like him who needs enemies. What an idiot.

1. Neither Charlie Brooker or the Guardian represent all of Britain. I am British, and proud of it, and I find Brooker's cheap jibe about assassins abhorrent and offensive. 2. There must be millions upon millions of British people that recognise and are grateful for the support of the Americans for Britain in the 20th century - a bit of a pity about leaving us alone to fight the Axis from 1939 to 1941, the 1956 Suez crisis, and your neutrality over the Falklands in 1982, .... but, on balance, we are rightly grateful for US support. 3. I wish I could say the same for Kerry - who, by his characterization of the Coalition as window-dressing, tinsel, bribed, etc. disparages, demeans and dishonours the 8500 British troops serving, and taking casualties, in support of the American effort in Iraq. 4. I also wish I could say the same for Bush and the Neocons, who steadfastly ignored the advice of the British, who have a lot more experience with fighting low-level insurgencies, on how to proceed in Iraq after the initial victory. 5. We have 800-900 soldiers (the Black Watch, Queen's Royal Lancers, etc.) of our only reserve battle-group on the way, right now, to relieve a US Marine Corps. group so it can redeploy to take (but I hope not flatten) Fallujah. You might want to take a look at the comments from your fellow Americans on this site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/talking_point/3749006.stm before calling us "thankless turds" again. rgds Duncan Ellis Phoenix, AZ

The tawdry remarks by Charlie Brooker suggesting the president of the United States should be assassinated are irresponsible regardless of any political views. It goes to show the gutter level "journalism" put out by the Guardian Limited. I propose that a web site be created with personal information on Charlie Brooker suggesting that someone facilitate him reaching room temperature. I wonder if he would like a web site with that information put up to get some crazy person to do him in?

Brooker's "hate Bush" humor proves only one thing-- Brooker hates Bush. So big deal. I hate Kerry and that Goof Ball wife of his. However, she is funny; Brooker is not funny. Brooker isuninformed, pathetic and boorish. Brooker is of the same ilk as Michael Moore , Al Franken, Barbara Streisand and the Dixie Chicks--nimrods all. Post Script: In lieu of the truth, friends of the above mentioned brain dead, liberal- thumping- cultist are urged to devote their lives to convincing at least one young person that there is nothing more important than devoting one's life to hating Bush. And remember, the only good liberal is a liberal that does not vote.

Charlie Booker, if an american licing in the USA could be tried for treason or for threatining the President. I love the british! As an american, I now hate the French! It's goverbment is licke a pesty, negging, little brother that demands respect and power while never really proving it self. Jealous because they are not the leading influence of social, governmental, and economic areas of society. As more stories of eropeans surface to Americans about them not respecting us, we have a difficult time respecting them. Some groups in England hate america like me Mr. Booker. His wish to have an assiain is humanless! George Bush may not be perfect and fit in with the eletist and european groups, but he believes in certian principals. John Kerry HAS NO PRINCIPALS!

Most Americans aren't insulted by this hack...hell, they have never heard of him. We have partisan media like The Guardian in abundance. All but the "true believers" have abandoned reading the New York times as an actual newspaper or regarding CBS or NBC as news outlets. We have our own measure of wanna'be's who think that being obnoxious, insulting and/or lewd will earn them the fame that their own talent couldn't. The list could go on forever. Suffice it to say that Charlie Brooker will not even be a footnote in any book on American media unless Kerry wins and makes him the court jester.

I just read the excrement on Bush in the Guardian. The hatred for Bush is insane. I guess that Bush has come to represent the loss you gimmie gimmie libs feel due to the fact that the world is at war and that nobody cares or has time for your pitiful issue. Now lets all just try to stay alive.

Charlie Brooker...total prat...

Since Charlie Brooker lives in the country whose leader supports our President, why doesn't he have the balls to solicit or wish for the assassination of Mr. Blair? It's so easy for cowards like Brooker to throw verbal bombs across the pond because they think they are protected from legal action or even a good beating from an angry American. Mr. Brooker. I would suggest that you: #1 Never come to America. #2 Fully expect Scotland Yard to be in your back pocket when President Bush visits Mr. Blair after he is re-elected. I also suggest that any and all Europeans re-think professing an attitude similar to Mr. Brooker's. While we understand that his comments do not reflect the majority of the public opinion in Europe. No matter how loud or how often you say that you don't hate Americans you just hate our Administration, I'm here to tell you that comments like Mr. Brooker's are taken, by most Americans, as a personal attack on the whole country.

Well, I see the American media (www.dallas.org) has picked up Brooker's comments and is posting them for everyone to see. I hope this incident exposes Brooker for the moron he is. He's a perfect fit for the Guardian.

I see that an "apology" has been posted for Charlie Brooker. Seems he had the guts to write the original bomb but didn't have the guts to have a first hand apology posted. Something like; "I Charlie Brooker sincerely apologize......", would have been a bit more believable. However. Even that probably would not have rang true to these ears. I believe Mr. Brooker's original article ARE his true feelings and the "apology" given for him is nothing but damage control. Nice wanted poster can be found here (dfwforums.net).

Ahh another nutless idiot liberal globalist. Another who refuses the learn the lessons of the past and is condemned to repeat them. You sir are not only a retard, you don't have any balls either. I digress from asking for a formal apology because you should not apologize for how you truly feel. However, like your ilk, you cowar and can merely quip that it was a jibe. You, bitch, are a "cum-by-yah" (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cum-by-yah). The only solution to a good liberal is a dead one. Feel free to call on me or any of my brothers at the Quanico Marine Base in Virginia.

You know, it surprises me just how many humourless, po-faced tossers can fit in one chatroom. An attack on your knuckledragging lackwit of a president is an attack on your whole country... the NYT, CBS and NBC not "news outlets" (and by implication presumably Fox and the New York Post are? Oh dear)... dear God people, get over yourselves. Nice, incidentally, to hear the previous poster (S. West) offering us a way out of all these hateful death threats- "the only solution to a good liberal is a dead one". Pots and kettles are hurling racial abuse at each other as we speak. In mangled syntax, admittedly, but nevertheless. And while I'm on the subject, how many of you were up in arms about the whole calling-the-French-cheese-eating-surrender-monkeys thing, if you're so passionate about not offending the delicate sensibilities of other nations? Now that is ACTUALLY a slight against the whole country, not a satirical if somewhat tasteless insult towards a mentally underequipped head of state. Sorry, didn't mean to get involved but really. 100,000 Iraqis dead by American (and British- no clean hands for us, thank you Mr Blair) hands (according to Lancet study anyway) and everyone's getting desperately upset by ten words in the TV review section of a Saturday newspaper. The words "sense of proportion" are just dancing around my head at the moment. I read the Guardian, by the way, in case you hadn't guessed. I'm pretty much your basic handwringing, sandal-wearing liberal with a quaint, outdated respect for the sanctity of human life, even in Arabs. Sorry about that. Not really my territory, I recognise.
