08.19 | Still, it's the best show on Sunday nights after 'Songs Of Praise'

The conclusion of '24' failed to attract the 3-4 million viewers that were expected of it. Although it hit the front pages of quite a few Sunday broadsheets, only 2.9 million viewers tuned in to watch Federal Agent Jack Bauer complete the 'longest day of his life'. Preceding that on Channel 4, 'The West Wing' completed its season two run with a poor 1.1 million viewers. Maybe if 'West Wing' could make itself more relevant to people, who may have little understanding of American politics, and could hit the zeitgeist more often - like, say, Kiefer Sutherland's paranoid terrorist-baiting back-stabbing '24' - it could pull in more fans...

Comments:

For all you 24 fans out there - there is going to be a live worldwide webcast called "24Inside" that airs on January 27 after 24 . Although it is a standard talk show, it will be from the fans' point-of-view and, with the help of a host, will include a lively discussion dissecting what just happened on the episode. The audience will participate with in-studio comments, call-ins and emails. Already confirmed guests are Penny Johnson Jerald (Sherry Palmer) and Executive Producer Howard Gordon, who will be interviewed to provide a behind-the-scenes view.
